Services
I believe in the power of empathy, active listening, ongoing education, and I continually seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and enhance my skills. At Selah Counseling Services, I work with diverse populations, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and relationship issues.
About
I’m Amanda Hickerson, the founder of Selah Counseling Services. I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than 20 years of experience in the field. I practice in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.
My journey in mental health began with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Regent University, and since then, I've been dedicated to helping individuals and couples find their path to healing and connection. As a spouse of a retired veteran, I have a passion for working with the military community and have extensive experience working with active-duty service members and veterans.

Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about traveling and cheering on the Tar Heels. When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me chauffeuring my kids around town, which is a great exercise in patience and creative problem-solving! I’m also an advocate for mental health awareness and often participate in community workshops and conferences.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard and supported. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support your journey to emotional and mental wellness.
